At an anti-abortion rally in Dublin on Saturday 1000's attended to celebrate the 8th Amendment making an unborn child's rights equal to the mother's.

The Pro Life Campaign were thee organisers, and speakers told people attending to resist the calls to dismantle the 8th Amendment of the Constitution.

“There are tens of thousands of people alive today because of the 8th Amendment, Ireland’s right to life amendment. These stories of hope and survival simply cannot be ignored in the debate. They deserve to be front and centre,” said the chairperson of the Pro Life Campaign Cora Sherlock.

Speakers also disagreed with Amnesty Irelands attempts to review the State's legislation on abortion on which Ms Sherlock commented that doing so was “coming from the top down, not from the grassroots up”.

Melissa Ohden also attended from the Us. She survived a failed abortion and is now a vigorous anti-abortion campaigner.
She said “I think it is an awful tragedy that groups like Amnesty Ireland openly campaign for abortion. You have every reason to be proud of the 8th Amendment. Passing this provision in 1983 was a hugely positive step forward for authentic human rights. As an abortion survivor, I applaud your country for it.”

Also present was Sinead McBreen, a mother who has described how she felt a lot of pressure to abort her child after a medical misdiagnosis.

We believe that they have the right to their choice of opinion, and their experiences were terrible. However, we also belive that the choice for those who think differently should also stand, pro choice allows for both opinions, but pro-life only allows for one.
